WOMEN AND MEN IN DIFFERENT LABOUR MARKET SECTORS
3.1
From a gender to an intersectional perspective
In any given context, gender is often just one category of many. These categories intersect and may be responsible for multiple labour market discriminations. Intersectional theory helps address these discriminations.
After an overview of what is ahead this week, we will hear statements from domestic worker Sangita Nepali in Nepal. She talks about the effect of multiple overlapping discriminations that hinder access to decent jobs. Christine Bigler also introduces the intersectional perspective as an approach to address this issue in a comprehensive way.
