COMPLEX SOCIETAL CHALLENGES – A TOUGH NUT TO CRACK

Antimicrobial resistance: a wicked challenge

Antimicrobial resistance refers to the capacity of certain bacteria to adapt themselves to resist the action of antibiotics. As expressed by the WHO: ‘Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health, food security, and development today.’

The case study we introduce in this step is about a project which addresses the role of the UN system and other global stakeholders in this issue. It is about both interdisciplinarity and collaboration with global actors.

After you have watched the video, create a mind-map. It should include the actors and stakeholders involved as well as the different facets of the problem. That will give you a better understanding of this issue.
