Most word processing programs offer comment and track-changes functions. However, these are difficult to use for blind and visually impaired people. Here are some alternatives.

If you are adding corrections or comments to a text document for a blind or visually impaired student, please note the following.

• Screen reader programs often struggle with the MS Word comment function – they ignore comments in the margins.
• Screen reader programs cannot reproduce corrections made in track-changes mode correctly (or at all).

It is thus best to write your corrections and comments directly in the body of the text. You can mark them as @correction or @[student name], so that the student can identify your additions.
