ADDRESSING HEALTH FINANCING IN AFRICA
2.5
Government perspective on health financing in Zambia
Instead of implementing Western strategies, African governments have found their own methods of financing their health systems, better suited to the local socio-economic circumstances.
In this video, Doris Osei Afriyie talks to Dr Mpuma Kamanga, Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, National Health Insurance Management Authority, about the features and characteristics of the new National Health Insurance scheme in Zambia, and how the scheme is designed to suit the context. The scheme not only benefits the population, but also helps finance the national health system at the same time.
