Congratulations, with this step you reached the end of the second chapter!

In this chapter we focused on the analysis of the earliest manifestations of musical notation in the Middle Ages starting with neumes and proceeding to square notation. You gained insights into the beginning of written music, got an overview of the notational systems from the 9th to the 11th century and deepened your understanding on neumatic notation and staff-notation.
