PSYCHOTHERAPY RESEARCH

Psychotherapy Research
What have been the most important phases in psychotherapy research up to the present day?
Questions on the texts
Read Braakmann (2015) (core reading) for a historical overview of psychotherapy research. Try to answer the following questions:
- What are the main differences between outcome and process research?
- What are “common factors” in psychotherapy?
- What were the main methodological advances in psychotherapy research?
In Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, the Dodo character issues the verdict “Everybody has won, and all must have prizes”, after a rather nonsensical race that no one can win has taken place. Why did a pioneer in psychotherapy research, Saul Rosenzweig, issue a similar verdict for psychotherapy?
